St Mary the Virgin in Nonington
St. Mary’s is in the village of Nonington in the Kent countryside roughly half way between Canterbury and Dover. It dates from the twelfth century with later alterations and additions. The last major restoration took place in 1887. A guide to the Church is available from the Friends of Nonington Church. Find out more at https://www.fonc.uk
We share our worship with the Baptist Chapel – both congregations are small but hardworking and dedicated! Our style of worship copes well with the needs of the diverse group that we are, and we have a regular pattern for services: – 1st Sunday Holy Communion in Church, 2nd Sunday Breakfast Church, 3rd Sunday Morning Worship in Chapel. 4th Sunday Holy Communion in Chapel. 5th Sunday when these occur we have a service of Holy Communion visiting the Benefice churches in turn. On the third Wednesday there is a zoom Compline. ln December we have a Christmas Tree Festival and Candlelight Carols We join in/organise and assist with village social activities and any fundraising. On a Thursday morning we hold Coffeestop in the Chapel 10-12 for coffee, scones and lots of chat, and on the third Friday since the autumn the Church has held a Happy Hour at 6.30pm for friends and neighbours.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart & with all your soul & with all your strength…love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.’
